From Graphic Design to UX Design: My Passionate Journey to Impact
Hi! i’m Dinah 👋🏾
As a creative person, I have always been drawn to the world of design. Growing up in an African household, I was told by many that pursuing a career in design was unconventional and that I wouldn’t be able to make any money from it. However, I knew that I was passionate about it and I decided to pursue it anyway.
I studied Graphic Design in Mauritius and fell in love with all things design. After completing my studies, I moved back to Tanzania and started working as a freelance graphic designer. It was a challenging experience, as finding clients and managing projects on my own was difficult. I wasn’t passionate about the work I was doing anymore and I felt unfulfilled.
That’s when I began researching other design disciplines and stumbled upon UX design. The idea of designing for the user and creating meaningful products that solve real problems was incredibly intriguing to me. I took the Google UX Design Professional Certificate with the money I made from freelancing and it opened up a whole new world to me.
